Facebook is going to die?

In early stage, back in 2004 the Facebook had attracted people around world rapidly. According to Clarion ledger, Facebook will lose 2 million users under the age of 25 this year. Less than half Internet users in U.S.A. who are in the age between 12 -17 will use Facebook this year for the first time. As per my view, it will not be a good sign as people in that age doesn’t have a better idea about the society. There should be a proper guidance in that age and misguidance can be happened which can result in having negative impacts to the society.

Also most of the time, data which are included in Facebook is not much accurate as there are many fake accounts. Facebook were used to be a very good platform. But nowadays this platform is becoming to be a paid medium to gain the attention of a target audience for a business. In early days there was an excellent post reach. But with the increasing number of active users it has declined. Around 300 posts can be reached by a person per a day if he actively engages with the Facebook. So there we require much effort if our post is needed to be appeared on someone's news feed.

Apart from the fake profiles, numbers of online ad blockers are arising. So this is resulting in declining the attention of advertisers regarding this platform. However, in Sri Lankan context Facebook has greater reach than any other media. According to the researches, it has been found that if Facebook is a television it has the highest reach. However this emerging trend with facebook is a crucial factor to be concerned by all marketers even in Sri Lanka.
